Green Discovery Basket

I started the week as usual by collecting objects that are primarily the color of the week. The images in the block, which we used in other colors last week for a collage, come from Homeschool Creations.

Little M&M loved exploring his basket! He loved emptying it out...

...and filling it back up again!

A couple of his favorites were the straw and the ball; however, he loved this next item so much, that I made a separate activity out of it.

Green Blocks - Building Towers

I gathered more of his sister's green blocks, because he was really enjoying them. And we built towers. We built towers over and over again. We'd finish building, he'd say, "Knock it over?" And then once we did, he'd say, "Again!"

Green Coloring Page

As usual, I let Little M&M complete a coloring page, which comes from Twisty Noodle again. Here's my ambidextrous boy...

And he was careful to color the frog's eye green too!

Which is Green? - Game

I did this game with Honey Pot all the time when she was this age, so I thought we'd give it a try too. I provided Little M&M with groups of three objects, and asked him which one was green. He had fun, and got a few right.

Green Forest - Paint Swatch Craft

I pinned something on Pinterest a long time ago, from a blog called Angie's Roost. I just loved how it looked, and it was so simple too! So I went to Lowes for some green paint swatches, and cut them into triangles. Then I provided Little M&M with the glue, and helped him make a green forest!

And since it's Christmastime, we added a silhouette of a reindeer to the forest. :)

Honey Pot made one too!

Love these!

Green Sensory Bag - Shaving Cream + Paint

Just a little squishy, mess-free fun!

Green Bath

We love concluding our color units with a colorful bath! We use these wonderful Elmo bath tablets!

The Color Red

Little M&M is 20 months old

Red Discovery Basket

I put together a basket of red things for Little M&M to play with throughout the week.

He loved exploring its contents again and again.

Pretending to have a beverage...

Learning about Santa Claus. Ho, ho, ho!

Magnetic Pom Poms

Next I offered Little M&M this cookie sheet with red magnetic pom poms and a red apple page. At first he placed them on randomly, but by the end of the week he made great efforts to put them on the white dots!

Red Coloring Page

I printed off a simple coloring page and added a title. Then gave Little M&M just a red marker to color it with. He likes fire trucks, so he enjoyed talking about it during this activity.

Red Ball Pit

I pulled out the ball pit and only the red balls for him to play with this week. We always talked about how the balls were red, and I think he was understanding the concept.

Dot Art - Red Heart

I printed off this page from Gift of Curiosity, and provided Little M&M with the red dot marker.

Red vs. Blue Collage

The printables for this come from Homeschool Creations. I stuck some leftover contact paper scraps onto red and blue pieces of construction paper. Then I'd pick up a red or blue item and ask Little M&M where it goes, whether it was blue or red. He loved this activity!

Little M&M now has a small artwork display hanging in his room. He loves pointing out his artwork every time we pass by one, so I had to do it. I love how much he enjoys these activities!

The Letter O

Honey Pot is 3 years and 6 months old

Leap Frog Fridge Phonics

We started our unit by listening to Scout's song about the letter O. This is one of the first letters that Honey Pot was able to identify, so I knew she would have no trouble recognizing it now.

O is for Octopus - Cheerios Worksheet

This was a fun worksheet that involves letter recognition, fine motor practice and snack time all in one! The worksheet comes from Making Learning Fun.

Snack time!

Letter O Worksheets

This worksheet comes from Education.com. Honey Pot loves tracing dotted lines, and this is very helpful practice.

Also from Education.com is this letter O maze. She had fun with this!

O is for Owl - Craft

I've seen tons of these owls flying around Pinterest, and knew we would enjoy this craft. I let Little M&M participate in this one, as he's been very eager to do crafts lately. First I let each child choose what color paint to use, and I let them paint their toilet paper tubes. (I helped Little M&M finish his, but let Honey Pot complete hers as she saw fit.)

Once the paint had dried, I let the kids choose what color wings they'd each like. Honey Pot did all of her own gluing, and I finished Little M&M's owl myself.

Super cute!

Letter O - Poking

Giant pushpins seem to be a common homeschool item, so I had to see what all the fuss is about. We were inspired from Confessions of a Homeschooler. I printed out a page with an uppercase and lowercase O, then let Honey Pot poke holes along each letter to get a feel for their shapes.

She flipped it over afterward to feel all the holes she poked through. Well done!

Dot-to-Dot Letter O

This worksheet also comes from Education.com. It was a fine number review, and had Honey Pot writing the letter O as she finished each one.

Dot Art

We also used our dot markers to complete this page from Confessions of a Homeschooler.
