Building CVC Words

I hid three letters inside each egg. She opened them one at a time, and had to figure out which word (from the pictures) she could build!

After sounding them out, she read each word and looked at their letters to determine which ones rhymed! Multiple activities in one!

Invisible Numbers + Number Recognition

Sweet E used watercolors to paint an egg (on which I had written a large number with white crayon). Then she read the number and wrote it on her white board. 

One-to-One Correspondence

For this simple activity, Sweet E popped open the eggs, counted the pom poms, and drew a line to the corresponding number that matches the color of the egg they were found in.

Stickers + Bunny Shapes

We did this activity last year, but it was so simple and fun, we did it again. I drew several shapes, and added bunny ears and eyes on each. Then Sweet E stuck on some foam shape stickers where they belonged. She loved this. Here she is laughing because when she placed that star it looked like a mouth!

Without any prompting from me, she decided to do the stickers in number order with one triangle, two circles, etc.

Roll an Easter Egg

I had seen this idea on Pinterest and decided to make my own version using an egg template and some photo cubes. Sweet E rolled the dice, then drew the pattern shown using the color shown.

She loved this so much, she did it a second time!

And a third!

So fun! And by doing it on a dry erase pocket, she was able to return to this activity again on other days. And she did!

Painting

Egg template free from First Palette. As a family, we did several of these and hung them on the wall along the stairway.

Feed the Bunny Letter Sounds

This is a great activity we did last year too, but is still a big hit with Sweet E. The free bunny printable comes from Let's Play Learn Grow. But I used the free carrots from Teachers Pay Teachers. I made a little vegetable patch out of dried black beans and a piece of tupperware. For the box with a hole in it, I just reused our mailbox from a previous activity. I had made it for our Community Helpers Theme, but it's getting a ton of use!

Sweet E picked a carrot, read the letter, said the sound it makes, and fed it to the bunny, whom I voiced of course. She loves this!

She came back to this activity on other days too!

Egg Ten Frames + Scavenger Hunt

Free printable ten frames came from Teachers Pay Teachers. I taped these up around the main level of our house, and she went in search of them.

She'd count up the eggs, and then write it on this handy number tracing page I found for free at Teachers Pay Teachers. Love that dry erase pocket!

All finished!

Symmetry

We made symmetrical Easter eggs! I drew the top half of each, and invited her to draw the bottom half symmetrically. She quickly caught on!

She even wanted more, so I quickly made up a couple more on a dry erase board. She loved this drawing activity!

Preschool: Easter!

 We did Easter activities for a couple of weeks. Take a look at what we did:

Books

Sweet E and I finally returned to the library, in masks, to get a few Easter books. The favorite here was Easter Cat, which I remember was a favorite of Honey Pot's when she was little! And she just loves Pinkalicious, so we read that one a lot too!

Scissor Skills

I just printed a couple (free) cutting pages from Itsy Bitsy Fun. Sweet E loves using her scissors, so I like to set up activities like this often.

Egg Hunt + Alphabet Review

I printed this free page from Playdough to Plato. Then I placed 2-3 lowercase letters inside of each of the twelve eggs. And I put the eggs all around the house, for Sweet E to go on an egg hunt!

This is one of her favorite activities!

When she found all twelve eggs, she cracked them open one at a time. Then she colored the eggs with the uppercase letters that matched the lowercase ones she found.

Visual Discrimination

Following instructions to make mixed-up egg patterns!

We've done this one a few times in the past. To prevent the eggs from rolling around, I stuck pieces of sticky-tac to the table for the eggs to go on!

Q-Tip Painting

The free printable eggs came from First Palette! We used the larger size last year to decorate our door with. Sweet E had fun painting these smaller ones with q-tips!

I printed several and she (as well as the older kids and I) painted them throughout the week!

Here they are all completed and cut out! We taped them to the wall beside the stairs to enjoy for a couple weeks!

Feed the Bunny Math Game

Free printable carrot templates and bunny came from Teachers Pay Teachers. I turned it into a math game by including two dice, and writing the numbers 2-12 on the carrots. Sweet E needed to roll the dice, add them up, pluck that number carrot from the black bean "garden" and feed it to the bunny!

She loves pretend play! So I had to make the bunny talk to her of course.

We actually played this twice on the first day, and then kept it handy to play again a couple more times during the week.

Such fun!

Marshmallow Bunny Craft

I did this activity with Honey Pot and Little M&M several years ago. And Sweet E loves marshmallows, so I thought I'd do it again! The original idea came from No Time for Flashcards. First I drew a bunny head shape on a piece of paper, then I supplied Sweet E with glue and mini marshmallows.

She squeezed the glue along the bunny head shape...

Then placed marshmallows all along it.

She was so excited to taste a few when it was all done!

She used eye stickers, and a heart sticker nose, and helped draw on the other features.

Egg Hunt + Big Numbers

Another egg hunt! This time I filled ten eggs with little number cards, counting by 10's to 100. After going on an egg hunt around the house, she took them back to her table, cracked them open, and matched up the big numbers.

She did terrific with these numbers on our 100th day of homeschool preschool. And this was a nice way to revisit this lesson!

Bunny Shapes

I saw this idea in a toddler/preschooler group on Facebook. I just drew some shapes on white paper, and provided Sweet E with little foam shape stickers to match up to the bunnies!

She pulled over a chair and got right to work!

A sweet little, busy activity when she was looking for something to do!

Sink or Float Science Experiment

I gathered various materials to put inside of the eggs, of various weights. Then I talked to Sweet E about the difference between sink and float (as demonstrated in my awesome drawings below the words lol). I grabbed marshmallows, pom poms, dice, a playmobil toy, bouncy balls, and loose change.

I asked her to fill an egg with one of the items. She chose marshmallows first. Then I asked if she thought it would sink or float? We made a guess before placing each egg in the bucket of water. Sometimes it floated:

And sometimes it sank right to the bottom:

As we learned what would sink and float, we placed that item near the words/pictures on the table. It was super fun! Sweet E was particularly surprised to see that sometimes an item would sink when it was in the water by itself, but float when it was in an egg!

Graphing Jellybeans

This free printable comes from Simply Kinder. Jelly beans are a classic Easter candy, so I had to pick up a bag and work it into our activities somewhere! I filled our foam die with each color of jellybean, then invited Sweet E to roll the die, and graph with jellybeans!

It was a fun little race to see which color would make it to ten first!

We thought for sure it would be pink!

And then blue came up and tied at nine too!

Until finally, purple pulled ahead and made it to ten first. Surprise! Then, Sweet E's favorite part, we got to taste a few!

Easter I-Spy

Free printable from And Next Comes L. This was another cute, time-filler activity to pull out when Sweet E was looking for something to do!

After counting up the eggs, sometimes she traced a number I wrote in pencil, and sometimes she insisted on writing it herself!

Tape Resist Egg

One beautiful afternoon we headed outside to do a tape resist egg project. I gave Sweet E a cup of water to dip the chalk into, to make the colors more vibrant!

She enjoyed this a lot so I made two more eggs too!

Even one with an E on it for her.
