It was a shorter week than we had planned, thanks to the whole family getting sick in the second half of it. But we managed to do some fun, hands-on activities. We started each day by talking about the calendar and the weather. Then we had a few learning activities sprinkled throughout our day.
Theme: Transportation
Songs
The Wheels on the Bus
Driving in my Car
Freight Train
Row, Row, Row Your Boat
Books
We had a ton of reading material to keep us busy this week! Believe it or not, only two of these are from the library!
Pattern Block Puzzles
Sorting Transportation - Land/Water/Air
Beginning Sounds
We just reused the images from the above activity, and figured out what letter each one starts with.
She's getting so good at this!
Playdoh
Tracing Lines
Sweet E loved this so much! I just drew the roads right onto the table with washable marker. So we were able to erase them easily with a wipe, and draw new lines over and over.
Traffic Light Craft - Tearing Paper and Gluing
Daddy and Little M&M saw this craft later, and initiated a game of "Red Light, Green Light" which she enjoyed too!
Scissor Skills
We had some paper leftover from the above craft, so I drew on some roads for cutting practice!
Sweet E loved connecting and driving along them first.
Which Is Missing? - Felt Board Game
I told her to close her eyes while I removed one of the planes. And then she needed to guess which one was missing.
Felt Board - Positional Words
Then we played a different game where I asked her to place the plane in a certain position in relation to the clouds. For example, behind...
to the left of...
between, etc.
Build a Train with MagnaTiles - Counting
For this activity I'd choose a number to put in the engine, and Sweet E needed to build the train using that many train cars.
Then she used it for a train track just for fun, because she just loves pretend play!
